Jeszcze nie królewski, ale na pewno najdłuższy etap ABSA Cape Epic 2018 – 122 km i 1800 m przewyższenia. Na tym etapie karty rozdawali weterani maratonów czyli Alban Lakata / Krystian Hynek, którzy w końcu mogą zapisać sobie zwycięstwo etapowe. Przewaga minuty, jaką zbudowali na dwójką Kulhavy i Grotts nie wystarczyła do objęcia prowadzenia w klasyfikacji generalnej – dlatego to ekipa Investec Songo Specialized założyła żółte koszulki lidera i tak stanęła na starcie czwartego, królewskiego etapu. Na trzecim miejscu dojechali Fumic / Avancini, którzy stracili prowadzenie w klasyfikacji generalnej.
W rywalizacji kobiet duet Langvad / Courtney pojechał po raz kolejny koncertowo i w klasyfikacji generalnej mają już ponad 12 minut przewagi na Spur (Luthi / Michiels) i ponad 24 minuty nad Silverback KMC (Strauss / Last).
